Is there a recommended threshold for amount of free disk space recommended?
I know that Disk Defragmenter recommends 15%.

That is fine.

The OS post a warning when it drops below 10%
You can alter the % at tip 142 in the 'Tips & Tricks' at http://www.jsiinc.com

I know about the warning and how to change the alert percentage.

My question is:

Is there a minimum recommended amount of free disk space for
drives/partitions? I have noticed a big dropoff in perforance before even
getting to the 10% alert.

There is no set in stone recommedation that I am aware of. I generally
leave 20% if I can but thats me. A lot will depend on the speed of the
hardware involved as to when you may see a noticeable drop off in
performance.
