Running Windows 2000 Pro, Ver. 5.00.2195, Svc Pk 4. I had the MS anti spy
ware program running. When I went to update the definitions, it told me it
had expired and I needed to renew. I followed the prompts and downloaded a
file WindowsDefender.msi. When I tried to install it, I get an error message
"software requires GDI+ Please load the Windows 2000 Security Software
PreRequisite Pack. I have searched everywhere for this Pack. Where do I
find this? How do I work around this problem?

Suggestions please.

Get this:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6a63ab9c-df12-4d41-933c-be590feaa05a&DisplayLang=en

and expand it placing the DLL file in \winnt\system32 (modify as needed for
your system)

Do this before running the .MSI file to install Windows Defender.

I downloaded the file you referenced which is a plug in. It said it loaded
but nothing changed. I'm still not able to install Windows Defender. I get
the same error message.

There was no file to expand and no .DLL file.

Did I miss something?

Help please.

Just move gdiplus.dll to the winnt\system32 folder and you should be good to go.
